Find out how the Portuguese became the first global power in our Belém Free Tour! Join a great introduction to the country’s Age of Discovery and see a couple of Lisbon’s most visited monuments while walking along the river: the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower.
We begin in the Gardens of Afonso de Albuquerque, a vice-Roy of India and the mastermind of the Portuguese in the East, before diving into our best-known sweet: the pastel de Belém, pastel de nata or, simply, nata. Shortly after comes the Jerónimos Monastery, a Unesco World Heritage Site that mixes Christian and pagan symbols to celebrate the Portuguese Age of Discovery.
There’s a lot we share before we arrive at the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, especially the importance of the country as a maritime power back in the day! We’ll follow the shores of the calm Tagus river ending very close to the Belém Tower, with views over the river and the 25 de Abril bridge. Join and don’t miss many of the must see places in Lisbon!

We always try not to leave anyone out but, sometimes with large groups, it is difficult to organize the tour and the guides. Groups of 7 or more are always welcomed, but we require a prepayment of 10€ per adult and 5€ per youngster (14 – 18 years). This principle results from the need to protect and value the level of quality and dedication of our guides.
