Cascais Free Tour
Cascais Free Tour
Enjoy the summer, the sun and the beach discovering the history of one of the most exclusive and chic coastal towns on the entire Portuguese coast.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Price: Free
We start the Cascais Free Tour right outside the train station, perfect if you come from Lisbon to spend the day on its beautiful beaches! At Praia da Conceição where we will tell stories of double spies who arrived in Portugal during World War II. We will discuss the historical origin of Cascais, what it was like to go to the beach at the beginning of the last century, and Santini’s ice creams. Did you know that when the Spanish royal family went into exile in Estoril this was one of their favorite places?
If there is a king who loved the town, that was King D. Carlos I, and we will talk about him while we see the beautiful Bay of Cascais: if there is one thing worth seeing on this walk, it is this, a real-life postcard of the Portuguese Riviera, with its fishing boats and its elegant summer palaces.
And we won’t forget the Boca do Inferno, where one of the most terrifying episodes in the life of the Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa occured. Now we will only mention that it has to do with satanic rituals, a mysterious disappearance and a man who he thought was the devil himself.
Discover Cascais with us and live the true Portuguese summer dream!
