Évora Free Tour
Duration: 2 h 30 min
Price: Free
Évora is not a city: it is a testimony of the historical richness of a country and our Évora Free Tour is a tribute to that. With a millenary history that goes beyond the Roman period, to know Évora is to rediscover the root of the heart of the Iberian Peninsula.
Our Évora Free Tour starts at the entrance of one of the most beautiful gates of the city, right next to the beautiful Silver Water Aqueduct. We will pass by the unique Enclosed Houses until we reach the Roman Arch of Dona Isabel.
Ebora, Yabura, there are many stories to tell of the Roman and Arabic heritage. Near the heart of the city of Évora, the Giraldo Square, we will talk about history of Geraldo without Fear and we will talk about surprising revolts and even French invasions. Already near the Cathedral of Évora, we will share the history of this fortress cathedral and its incredible reliquary.
The Roman Temple (also known as the Temple of Diana), probably the most photographed monument in the city, is our next stop, and in the meantime we will talk about the Portuguese Inquisition and the fight of the Marquis of Pombal with the Jesuits. We will end the Évora Free Tour in the pleasant Public Garden, right after we pass by the Church of São Francisco and the Church of Graça.
Come and let yourself be carried away by the ancient defensive walls, the centenary arches, the monuments that are World Heritage of Humanity.

This principle results from the need to protect and value the level of quality and dedication of our guides.
