Sintra Free Tour
Walk through an incredibly charming town while you learn about palaces and castles, history and sweets, and enjoy magical vibes and views!
Duration: 2 hours 30 min
Price: Free
Come see the best of Sintra! The Sintra Free Tour begins at the exquisite Town Hall facing the mountains, which are the origin of the name of this enchanted place. With the Moorish Castle looking down on us, we will talk about Templars and one of Sintra’s mouthwatering pastries, the queijada, and we’ll set off to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will talk about freemasons, the incredible Sintra National Palace, and the sumptuous forests which, here, are always around us. After trying the famous travesseiros we will begin to understand former king Ferdinand II and the Romantic Movement of the XIX Century, which transformed this charming medieval town into a fairytale one.
Walking through the mystical Quinta da Regaleira we’ll talk about many hidden symbols, stories and the weird Initiation Wells. We will reach the end of our fabulous tour as we approach the gardens of the Seteais Palace where we will have amazing views on the Pena Palace, the Castle and the mountains.
Please, bear in mind that we won’t be visiting the Pena Palace or the Moorish Castle, as both are too far! However, we strongly suggest you stay longer in Sintra and visit these two places on your own. They’re amazing!
